A man was allegedly filmed vaping on Bus Service 77 on November 24, 2025, according to a viral video. The act of possessing or using an e-vaporiser is illegal under Singapore's Tobacco Act, and the standard penalty for a first offence is a fine of up to S$10,000 and/or imprisonment for up to six months. Subsequent offences face doubled penalties.
The penalties become far more severe if the vape contains a prohibited drug, such as THC. Under the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA), an individual caught consuming a drug-laced vape faces mandatory imprisonment for one to 10 years and a fine of up to S$20,000. Simple possession of a drug-laced cartridge also carries up to 10 years' imprisonment and a fine. This dual system underscores the extremely strict legal risks of vaping in Singapore.
