Tragic Fire in Toa Payoh Flat: 2 Dead, 3 Hospitalised

  On July 22, 2025, at around 7:30pm, a fire broke out in a second-floor unit at Block 173, Lorong 1 Toa Payoh. SCDF firefighters responded quickly to the scene and found the living room engulfed in flames. They entered the smoke-filled flat and extinguished the fire using a water jet. While battling the blaze, firefighters found two unresponsive individuals inside the unit. Both were carried out immediately but were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The fire also affected nearby units, and three residents from adjacent flats were assessed for smoke inhalation and transported to Singapore General Hospital for further treatment. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. 

Cement Truck Accident in MCE Tunnel Sparks Traffic Disruption

  On July 21, a cement truck accident caused a significant disruption in the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) tunnel, blocking three lanes and drawing emergency response from multiple agencies. The accident occurred in the direction of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway, near the East Coast Parkway exit, at approximately 5:30pm. According to a video posted online, the cement truck had crashed into the tunnel wall. The footage showed the left side of the truck’s cabin tilted and lodged against the side of the tunnel. Several light-coloured wall panels had been dislodged or broken from the impact. The scene revealed extensive damage and an immediate traffic bottleneck within the tunnel. Man Jailed for Failed Robbery at Choa Chu Kang Store

SCDF Saves 2 Workers Hanging 29 Storeys High on Raffles City Tower!

On 21 July 2025, two workers were rescued from a stuck gondola between the 28th and 29th floors of a building at 250 North Bridge Road (Raffles City Tower) in Singapore. The incident happened around 11:20am, prompting an immediate response from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). Upon arriving, firefighters quickly checked the gondola’s stability and ensured the workers’ safety while waiting for the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) to deploy. DART operatives secured the gondola using safety lines before one of them descended to the platform. Both workers, who had safety harnesses on, were individually guided through windows on levels 29 and 30. The men were assessed by paramedics and taken to Raffles Hospital in stable condition. Thanks to the fast action by SCDF and DART, a potentially tragic incident was resolved without injuries. The cause of the gondola malfunction remains under review.
