Sambar Deer Put Down After Road Collision at Mandai

  What happens when urban infrastructure meets wildlife corridors? A tragic incident on 24 July 2025 along Mandai Road highlights the ongoing tension between nature and human development. A sambar deer, native to forested areas, was involved in a collision with a car and later had to be euthanised on welfare grounds due to the severity of its injuries. The accident took place around 5:15pm and was reported to the National Parks Board (NParks). Responding quickly to the situation, NParks alerted the Mandai Wildlife Group, which was closest to the scene and equipped with the necessary veterinary expertise. Upon arrival, veterinary staff assessed the condition of the deer and found its injuries too extensive to allow for recovery. As a result, NParks and Mandai Wildlife Group made the joint decision to humanely euthanise the animal on-site, prioritising its welfare and to prevent prolonged suffering. Blaze Destroys Multiple Cars at Marine Crescent Carpark

  A fire broke out on 24 July 2025 at about 3:10pm at the multi-storey carpark located at 35A Marine Crescent, causing three cars to catch fire and damaging others nearby.  The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded quickly and extinguished the blaze on the carpark's second level using two water jets. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Preliminary findings confirmed that the cars involved were not electric vehicles, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause. Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC MP Goh Pei Ming thanked emergency responders and stated that the Marine Parade Town Council will clean the area once cleared, with HDB officers inspecting for necessary repairs.  The fire has raised safety concerns over carpark infrastructure and vehicle-related fire hazards in densely populated areas. Authorities are continuing investigations and advising residents to remain vigilant. 

Fatal Motorcycle Accident on BKE Leaves One Dead, One Hospitalised

  On the morning of 25 July 2025, a fatal accident occurred on the BKE towards the PIE, before the SLE exit, involving a motorcycle and a lorry transporting construction material. Authorities were alerted at approximately 6:50am. A 23-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, while his 23-year-old male pillion rider, found unconscious, was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.  A video circulating online showed a blue police tent, blood, and debris near the lorry. Emergency services, including police, SCDF, LTA, and EMAS personnel, were seen on-site. Changi Prison Officer Accepts Bribes for Sneaking Contraband for Inmate

  A Singapore Prison Service (SPS) officer, Mohammad Asri Abd Rahim, 39, is at the centre of a serious corruption case involving bribes, contraband, and prisoners at Changi Prison. On 25 July 2025, Asri was formally charged in court with five counts under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly accepting bribes in exchange for smuggling prohibited items into the prison. According to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), the offences took place across seven occasions between August 2021 and June 2022. During this time, Asri reportedly accepted a total of $3,700 in bribes from inmate Mohamad Yusof Kasimas, 50. In return, Asri allegedly smuggled banned items including nude photographs, prescription drugs, and magazines into the prison facility. Tragic Fire in Toa Payoh Flat: 2 Dead, 3 Hospitalised

SCDF Saves 2 Workers Hanging 29 Storeys High on Raffles City Tower!

On 21 July 2025, two workers were rescued from a stuck gondola between the 28th and 29th floors of a building at 250 North Bridge Road (Raffles City Tower) in Singapore. The incident happened around 11:20am, prompting an immediate response from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). Upon arriving, firefighters quickly checked the gondola’s stability and ensured the workers’ safety while waiting for the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) to deploy. DART operatives secured the gondola using safety lines before one of them descended to the platform. Both workers, who had safety harnesses on, were individually guided through windows on levels 29 and 30. The men were assessed by paramedics and taken to Raffles Hospital in stable condition.
