Man Sentenced to 16 Years for Aggravated Rape in Brutal Nighttime Attack

A 26-year-old man, Chinnaiah Karthik, was sentenced to 16 years in jail and 12 strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to an aggravated rape case.

In 2019, he stalked a university student late at night, punched her, dragged her into a forested area, and brutally raped her, leaving her severely injured.

His mental condition had led to delays in the case.

The victim survived, and extensive investigative work led to Chinnaiah's arrest.

The prosecution sought a harsh sentence, highlighting the extreme violence of the attack and its pre-meditated nature. The victim still suffers from trauma and feelings of shame.

This process built a false sense of trust and security. However, when victims continued gambling and attempted to withdraw larger sums of money, the syndicate changed its tac...
