Four members of the public are being hailed as "heroes" after they helped contain a fire on the back of a pickup truck along Tanjong Katong Road on December 10 at 1:30 PM. A viral TikTok video by @ks83706 showed the truck's rear engulfed in flames. The footage captured four men—including a petrol station attendant with a larger extinguisher—using fire extinguishers to bring the blaze under control. The TikToker claimed the fire was out before fire trucks arrived. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed they were alerted to the fire at the junction of Tanjong Katong Road and Sandy Lane and ultimately extinguished the blaze using a hosereel. SCDF reported no injuries and that the cause of the fire is under investigation. Netizens praised the men for their "kampong spirit" and public-spirited teamwork.

Elderly Driver Causes Four-Car Accident at Nex Shopping Mall

  A 73-year-old male driver is assisting police investigations after a four-car accident at the multi-storey carpark in NEX shopping mall on December 6, at approximately 2:30 PM. The incident, which occurred along Serangoon Central, resulted in a 66-year-old male driver and his 60-year-old female passenger being taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Eyewitness video footage, shared online, showed a silver car speeding down a ramp from the third to the second level. As it reached the second level, it violently collided with a second car, which was then flung into two other parked cars, creating a four-vehicle pile-up. The severity of the impact is under investigation by the police.

PMD Rider Sent to Hospital After Collision at Bishan Street 11

  A 41-year-old male PMD rider was hospitalized after a collision with a car at the junction of Bishan Road and Bishan Street 11 on the evening of December 9 at 7:35 PM. The PMD rider was taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. A 43-year-old male motorist is assisting with ongoing police investigations. A video of the accident, shared on Roads.sg’s Facebook page, showed the PMD rider crossing the road while the traffic lights were not in his favour (red light). The footage captured the moment the PMD rider, after coming to a halt near the traffic island, was struck by a blue car. The impact sent the rider flying into the air, causing parts of his PMD to break off. Although the driver immediately exited his car to check on the man, the incident highlights the extreme dangers of PMD users flouting traffic rules.

American Molester Nabbed in 4 Hours at Singapore Changi Airport!

  An American man, Jeffrey Alan Carreiro, 46, was charged with molesting a six-year-old girl in the transit area of Changi Airport Terminal 3 on December 9 at about 5 PM. Carreiro was subsequently ordered on December 11 to be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) for a medical examination. Court documents allege that Carreiro kissed and touched the girl’s abdomen and lifted her trousers’ waistband to peer inside while she was sleeping on a bench next to her mother. The mother woke up, confronted Carreiro, and alerted the police when he walked away. Officers from the Airport Police Division used CCTV footage to establish his identity and successfully arrested him within just four hours of receiving the report. Carreiro's case will be mentioned again in court on December 23. If convicted of molesting a child under 14, he faces up to five years’ jail, a fine, or caning, or a combination of these.

44-Year-Old Malaysian Driver Arrested for Cigarette Smuggling

They discovered over 370 cartons and 1,600 packets of duty-unpaid cigarettes concealed within modified compartments of the vehicle. A 44-year-old male Malaysian driver was arrested in connection with the smuggling case. The driver and the seized contraband were handed over to Singapore Customs for further investigation.
