The director of a construction company Flux General Contractors in Singapore, Yang Wei Qi Elijah, has been sentenced to three weeks in jail for instructing his manager to falsify a risk assessment and safe work procedures following an employee's fatal fall.
The accident occurred while workers were installing glass panels for a canopy, and the employee, Che Chee Eh, fell to his death from a height of approximately 3.2 meters.
Yang Wei Qi Elijah was held responsible for safety matters but left the premises' management to another employee.
After the incident, he instructed his manager to falsify documents, leading to his jail sentence under the Workplace Safety and Health Act.
The company, Flux General Contractors, was fined SGD 50,000 for failing to ensure safety compliance. Investigations involving other parties are ongoing.
