A Singaporean man, Muhammad Dzulhilmi Bin Salimi, has been sentenced to five years and four months in jail, along with five strokes of the cane, for importing drugs concealed in candies from the United Kingdom.
Dzulhilmi arranged the purchase through Telegram, paid in Bitcoin through a third party, and attempted to distribute the drug-laced sweets to friends.
An Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer detected anomalies in X-Ray images of the parcel, leading to the involvement of the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), and subsequent arrest and prosecution of Dzulhilmi.
