Driver Sentenced for Fatal Collision with Teenager - Punggol Accident

A man who ran a red light in Punggol, colliding with a teenager crossing the road and causing his death, received a two-year jail sentence and a 10-year driving ban on Monday (Dec 18) 2023.

Firhan Aqil Mohamad Amran, 25, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death. The incident occurred on October 10, 2022, when the 14-year-old victim was using a pedestrian crossing with a green signal. Firhan, failing to obey the red light, struck the boy.

Despite cooperation with authorities, an early guilty plea, and a clean driving record, Firhan faced the mandatory minimum punishment. The victim died on November 2, 2022.
