In Singapore, a 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attempting to rob an elderly man using a boning hook in the Little India area.
The elderly victim reported that the assailant demanded his gold chain, valued at S$10,000, but the victim resisted, leading to a struggle.
The gold chain broke, and the suspect fled without the jewelry, leaving the boning hook behind.
The police, aided by images from cameras and CCTV footage, identified and arrested the suspect within 10 hours.
The man is set to be charged with armed robbery, carrying a potential jail term of three to 14 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane if convicted.
