Man Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Loanshark Harassment Case in Bedok

 


A 38-year-old man has been arrested by the Police for suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

The incident, which occurred on 13 March 2024 at a residential unit in Bedok North Street 4, involved the splashing of green paint and pasting of a debtor’s note on the gate.

With the help of Police cameras and diligent investigations by officers from Bedok and Jurong Police Divisions, the man was identified and apprehended within four hours.

He will be charged under the Moneylenders Act 2008 on 15 March 2024.

Loanshark harassment carries severe penalties, including fines up to $50,000, imprisonment for up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes for first-time offenders.

The Police emphasize zero tolerance for such activities and urge the public to refrain from any involvement with loansharks, encouraging reporting of suspicious activities to the authorities. **Credit: police.gov.sg

Duo Arrested in Major Raid Over Illegal Streaming Devices in Singapore
