Twenty drivers, aged between 28 and 51, will be charged in court on April 25, 2024, for failing breathalyzer tests conducted between January and March 2024 during routine traffic stops.
One motorist, a 51-year-old man, faces an additional charge for leaving his vehicle in a yellow box at a junction while under the influence of alcohol, causing disruption and posing a danger to other road users.
This incident occurred on March 12, 2024, at the junction of Bedok North Street 1 and Bedok North Drive.
For first-time offenders, drink driving can result in a fine of $2,000 to $10,000, up to 12 months in jail, or both.
Repeat offenders face harsher penalties. The additional traffic offense can lead to a fine of up to $2,000 or three months in jail for a first-time offense.
The Traffic Police emphasize the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to ensure road safety and warn of strict actions against violators.
