Bus Driver Dies in Woodlands Crash with No Passenger On Board

A 58-year-old bus driver tragically lost his life on Tuesday morning (Apr 16) after crashing into a tree in Woodlands.

The incident, involving bus service 911, occurred along Woodlands Avenue 2 en route to Woodlands Integrated Transport Hub.

No passengers were aboard at the time of the accident. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the bus, was rushed unconscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) personnel responded to the scene, with efforts to revive the driver captured in a video clip circulating on social media.

The authorities are conducting investigations into the incident.

In Singapore, police arrested 35 individuals aged between 25 and 58 for their alleged involvement in vice-related activities. The arrests followed a series of enforcement operations conducted between November 12, 2024, and December 6, 2024. In the first operation, which took place from November 12 to December 3, officers from the Clementi Police Division, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the Housing & Development Board (HDB) raided six establishments. These included a massage parlor and five outlets masquerading as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) clinics located along Jurong East Avenue 1 and Jurong East Street 31. During the raids, eight women aged between 34 and 49 were apprehended for allegedly offering sexual services. Public Transport Fare Hike, 6% Fare Increase Starting on 28/12/2024

The Public Transport Council (PTC) has approved a 6.0% fare increase for the 2024 Fare Review Exercise (FRE), set to take effect on Dec. 28, 2024 . Despite the increase, the adjustment is only a third of the maximum allowable quantum of 18.9% , with the remaining quantum deferred, supported by additional government subsidies . Fare Adjustments Adult commuters will see an increase of 10 cents per journey . Concession card holders, including students and seniors, will have a smaller increase of 4 cents per journey , benefiting approximately 2 million individuals . Monthly passes for frequent public transport users will remain unchanged to help commuters manage costs.
