In a collaborative effort between the Singapore Police Force (SPF), Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF), and Korean National Police Agency (KNPA), a total of 272 individuals aged between 12 and 73 have been arrested during a cross-border operation targeting online child sexual exploitation activities.
The operation, conducted from February 26 to March 29, 2024, involved raids at 236 locations in Singapore, Hong Kong, and South Korea, resulting in the seizure of electronic devices associated with alleged crimes.
In Singapore, 28 individuals were arrested for various offences related to child abuse materials, while preliminary investigations revealed the involvement of others in similar crimes.
Nine suspects have been referred to the Home Team Community Assistance and Referral Scheme (HT CARES) for further assessment.
The enforcement actions underscore the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse, with penalties outlined under Singapore's Penal Code.
Officials from all three countries expressed gratitude for the joint effort, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding children and sending a clear message that such reprehensible behaviour will not be tolerated.
