Siew Weng Chuin, a 25-year-old former police officer, was fined S$500 after admitting to cheating a noodle stall operator in Hougang.
Instead of paying for his orders totaling S$36.50, Siew transferred money between his bank accounts and deceived the operator into believing he had made payments via PayNow.
The court heard that Siew repeated this deception multiple times, showing fabricated transaction records to the victim.
Despite the victim's attempts to contact him regarding the unpaid amounts, Siew provided false information.
He was confronted by the victim and later arrested.
Siew has since resigned from the Singapore Police Force and made full restitution for his actions. He faced a potential jail term of up to three years or a fine for cheating.
