Senior Woman Arrested for Multiple Shop Thefts

A 63-year-old woman was arrested following a string of shop thefts at Harbourfront Walk and Bayfront Avenue. The arrest occurred after a store manager reported her suspicious behavior on the evening of May 5, 2023.

Detained with several unpaid items at the scene, police later recovered over 100 branded apparels worth more than $5,500 from her residence.

The suspect is linked to multiple thefts across several retail outlets in the area. Scheduled for a court appearance on May 7, 2024, she faces charges under Section 380 of the Penal Code, risking up to seven years in prison and a fine.

The police are emphasizing retail security enhancement and vigilance against shoplifting, recommending strategies such as improved store layouts, clear signage, secure displays for high-value items, strategic CCTV placement, and visible security personnel.

Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority foiled a major smuggling attempt on August 20, 2025. Public Transport Fare Hike, 6% Fare Increase Starting on 28/12/2024

The Public Transport Council (PTC) has approved a 6.0% fare increase for the 2024 Fare Review Exercise (FRE), set to take effect on Dec. 28, 2024 . Workers’ Party Reveals Strong New Additions to Its GE2025 Team

On April 18, 2025, the Workers' Party (WP) presented four more potential candidates ahead of Singapore’s upcoming General Election.
