Yeo Zhuo Ping, 28, was convicted of attempted rape and sexual assault after attacking a Thai disco singer on August 7, 2018. The victim, 31 at the time, had just finished her shift at Thai disco Pixie Bar when Yeo offered to take her home.
Instead, Yeo led her to a carpark at Block 125A Kim Tian Road, where he forced her into a small room at a staircase landing. There, he twice attempted to rape her and tried to compel her to perform a sex act. The victim resisted, pleading with him to stop. Yeo eventually left, with CCTV capturing him crawling on a link bridge to another block.
The victim filed a police report before flying to Bangkok. Medical examinations later confirmed injuries consistent with sexual assault.
During his trial, Yeo denied the charges, claiming memory loss and accusing the victim and police of fabricating evidence. Deputy Public Prosecutor Christina Koh dismissed his defense, emphasizing Yeo’s violent behavior and lack of remorse. District Judge James Elisha Lee found Yeo guilty, rejecting his claims of unconsciousness due to a head injury.
Yeo also pleaded guilty to drink-driving and dangerous driving committed while out on bail for the sexual offences. Sentencing is set for December 6 2024.
