Admiralty Secondary School Under Fire As Student Was Attacked in Classroom

A distressing incident has come to light involving a student from Admiralty Secondary School, who suffered a severe head injury after being assaulted by a classmate. The victim, a new student, was allegedly hit multiple times with a metal water bottle during class, resulting in a deep cut measuring approximately 4–5 cm in length and 7–8 mm in depth. Despite the severity of the injury, the school initially described it as a "minor cut" and informed the family accordingly.

Upon rushing to the hospital, the family discovered the true extent of the injury. The student required specialist stitches, and while the wound continues to bleed, further medical assessments like CT scans have been delayed due to concerns about radiation exposure in children. The family must now monitor the student’s condition closely over the next 72 hours to assess any potential complications.

The family expressed their outrage over the lack of immediate intervention during the assault and the school’s misleading response. Questions have been raised about classroom supervision and why such a violent act could occur without intervention from teachers or staff. Additionally, the family's frustration deepened when they observed what they described as an unprofessional attitude among the school administration. According to their account, teachers and school leaders, including the principal and vice-principal, were reportedly seen laughing and joking while the injured student was being transported to the hospital.

The only individual who showed genuine concern, according to the family, was the discipline master, who took the incident seriously and assisted them during this distressing time.

The situation became even more alarming when the student recounted an interaction with his form teacher while resting in the school’s sickbay. Allegedly, the teacher made a dismissive comment, suggesting the injury was a result of the student retaliating during the assault. The family found this remark both insensitive and inappropriate, as it appeared to blame the victim for defending himself.

The family has since filed a police report and is calling for a thorough investigation into the incident. They have also appealed to the Ministry of Education and relevant authorities to ensure accountability. Their goal is to not only seek justice for the victim but also to highlight the need for stricter safety measures in schools to prevent such incidents from recurring.

The emotional toll on the student is also a significant concern for the family. Although he has been discharged from the hospital with hospitalization leave until mid-January, they worry about the long-term psychological impact of the assault and the subsequent lack of support from the school. They are particularly concerned about how the experience will affect his confidence and trust in educators.

The incident has sparked wider discussions about school safety and the responsibilities of educators in maintaining a secure environment for students. The family is urging the community to rally behind their call for justice and to share their story, emphasizing that no child should have to endure such trauma in a supposed safe space like a classroom.

In response to the incident, many have raised concerns about whether schools are adequately prepared to handle such situations and whether policies and supervision are sufficient to ensure students’ safety. This case has become a sobering reminder of the need for vigilance and accountability in educational institutions.

The family is determined to pursue the matter to its conclusion, seeking not just immediate answers but long-term solutions to ensure the well-being and safety of all students in schools.
