Murder Suspect Returns to Ang Mo Kio Flat Under Police Escort

A 66-year-old Singaporean man, Ng Chen Heng, charged with the murder of 67-year-old Lim Suan Lian, was escorted back to the crime scene at Block 125 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 on Tuesday morning, January 21. The alleged murder occurred between November 27 and 29, 2024. Ng was formally charged with the crime on November 30.

Arriving in a white van at 9:07 a.m., Ng was dressed in a red polo shirt and dark shorts, with his arms and legs secured in black restraints. Five plain-clothes officers accompanied him as they escorted him up to the fourth floor of the block, where the alleged crime took place.

To facilitate the investigation, the police set up a cordon spanning eight residential units near the scene. Uniformed officers were stationed at both ends of the cordon to secure the area and ensure privacy for the ongoing investigation. Ng and the officers spent more than two hours inside the unit before he was escorted back into the van and taken away.

The incident has left neighbours in the area deeply shaken. Several residents recalled frequent arguments between Ng and Lim, and some shared that Ng had been locked out of the house multiple times in the past.

The charge of murder is a serious offence in Singapore, carrying the mandatory death penalty upon conviction. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities meticulously piecing together evidence to build the case against Ng.

This tragic case has sparked conversations about domestic relationships and the importance of early intervention in disputes to prevent violence. While details surrounding the motive remain unclear, the incident serves as a grim reminder of the potential consequences of unresolved conflicts.

Neighbours in the close-knit Ang Mo Kio community remain shocked and saddened by the incident. Many hope for justice to be served while calling for greater awareness of support systems for individuals in troubled situations.

As investigations progress, the authorities are working to establish a clear sequence of events leading up to the alleged crime, bringing closure to a case that has gripped the attention of the public.

New Punggol Northshore BTO Plagued by Water Seepage and Electrical Hazards

***Update: HDB, Maincon and Consultant has came down to the unit to check. Will update on status once we have more information. A Punggol Northshore BTO homeowner, who moved into his newly renovated flat in July 2024, has voiced frustration over severe water leakage issues that have left his unit unsafe and unlivable. Water has been observed seeping from an electrical powerpoint, with puddles forming on the floor and walls showing bubbling and signs of damage from moisture. The source of the leak appears to be an external wall adjacent to the master bedroom, according to assessments by the main contractor. However, the leakage has already caused significant damage to the flat's walls and paintwork, leaving the homeowner distressed. Adding to the frustration, the main contractor advised the homeowner to avoid using the affected power switches in the living room and bedroom due to the risk of a short circuit. Despite the warning, the homeowner has no choice but to turn on the light...

Crackdown on Illegal Ride-Hailing with 4 Drivers Caught in LTA Operation

In a recent operation conducted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore, four drivers were caught and had their vehicles impounded for providing illegal ride-hailing services. These unauthorized services operated both within Singapore and across the border to Malaysia, posing significant risks to passengers. The LTA has issued a stern warning to the public, advising against using such illegal services due to the lack of proper licensing and insurance, which can leave passengers vulnerable in the event of accidents. The operation underscores LTA’s commitment to ensuring the safety and regulation of ride-hailing services in Singapore. Drivers caught offering illegal ride-hailing services without a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Licence face severe penalties, including fines of up to $3,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both. These measures are in place to deter unlicensed operators and protect passengers from potential harm. Illegal ride-hailing services oft...
