On March 4, 2025, authorities conducted two separate operations that led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs worth over SGD 619,000. The confiscated substances, which included heroin, cannabis, methamphetamine, and LSD, were estimated to be enough to supply approximately 2,630 drug abusers for a week.
First Raid at a Hotel Near Havelock Road
In the early evening, officers raided a hotel room in the Havelock Road area, where a 21-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man were arrested. A search of the room led to the recovery of 340 grams of heroin, 103 grams of Ecstasy, 27 grams of methamphetamine, five Erimin-5 tablets, and cash amounting to SGD 9,180 and MYR 711.
Following the arrests, officers conducted a search of the suspects' rented vehicle in the hotel’s car park. This led to the discovery of an additional 2,758 grams of heroin and 515 grams of methamphetamine, further indicating their involvement in large-scale drug trafficking.
Second Raid at Kaki Bukit
Later that night, another operation was carried out in Kaki Bukit, where a 27-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were arrested in the car park of a commercial building. A search of the man’s unit within the same building uncovered nearly 5 kilograms of cannabis, 279 grams of ketamine, 222 grams of methamphetamine, 115 grams of Ecstasy, and 250 LSD stamps. Additionally, numerous vape devices, cartridges, and edibles suspected to contain THC were found in the unit.
A search of the car driven by the female suspect earlier in the evening led to the recovery of another 11 grams of methamphetamine.
Authorities’ Response and Warning
The enforcement agency emphasized its ongoing commitment to tackling drug-related activities and preventing traffickers from spreading harm within the community. A senior official reaffirmed that those who continue to engage in drug trafficking will be held accountable, highlighting the agency’s relentless efforts to intercept illegal substances before they reach the streets.
The agency also warned the public about the increasing presence of drug-laced edibles, which are often disguised as harmless candies or snacks. These products, which may contain harmful controlled substances, pose a significant risk to unsuspecting consumers. Members of the public are urged to report any suspicious items or activities.
Legal Consequences and Ongoing Investigations
Under existing drug laws, the trafficking of certain amounts of controlled substances carries severe penalties. If an individual is found guilty of trafficking more than 15 grams of heroin, 250 grams of methamphetamine, or 500 grams of cannabis, they may face the mandatory death penalty.
Investigations into the activities of the arrested suspects are ongoing, and authorities have encouraged the public to provide any relevant information that could assist in tackling the drug trade. Those with information can contact the authorities via the official hotline or website.
