Public Dispute at Paya Lebar MRT Walkway Sparks Online Debate

A video posted on social media on March 24, 2025, captured a heated altercation between a man and a woman near the walkway connecting Paya Lebar MRT station and Paya Lebar Square. The footage quickly went viral, drawing widespread reactions from netizens who voiced concerns over public disturbances and safety in the area.

In the video, the woman appears to be involved in an argument with a group of foreign workers before the man intervenes in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. However, rather than calming down, the woman turns her aggression toward the man, slapping and shoving him repeatedly. The man then holds her back and moves her toward a seating area at the side, seemingly trying to prevent the situation from escalating further.

Throughout the clip, bystanders can be seen stepping aside to avoid the commotion, with some glancing over but choosing not to intervene. The exact reason behind the argument remains unclear, but many online commenters speculate that the dispute could have stemmed from a personal disagreement or a misunderstanding between the individuals involved.

The video has sparked discussions about public disturbances in areas where large gatherings of foreign workers frequently occur. Many social media users pointed out that such incidents are common at locations like Paya Lebar MRT and Orchard’s Lucky Plaza, particularly on Sundays, when many domestic and construction workers gather on their rest days. Some netizens expressed frustration over repeated incidents of public disorder, calling for increased police patrols in these areas to maintain order and ensure public safety.

Others, however, argued that not all gatherings lead to disruptions and that singling out specific groups may be unfair. Some suggested that more public spaces be allocated for foreign workers to gather comfortably without causing inconvenience to the public.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of managing public spaces in a way that balances the needs of different communities while maintaining order. Authorities have yet to respond to the viral video, but discussions on how to handle similar situations in the future continue to gain traction online.

Water has been observed seeping from an electrical powerpoint, with puddles forming on the floor and walls showing bubbling and signs of damage from moisture. The source of the leak appears to be an external wall adjacent to the master bedroom, according to assessments by the main contractor. However, the leakage has already caused significant damage to the flat's walls and paintwork, leaving the homeowner distressed. Adding to the frustration, the main contractor advised the homeowner to avoid using the affected power switches in the living room and bedroom due to the risk of a short circuit. Despite the warning, the homeowner has no choice but to turn on the light...

Crackdown on Illegal Ride-Hailing with 4 Drivers Caught in LTA Operation

In a recent operation conducted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore, four drivers were caught and had their vehicles impounded for providing illegal ride-hailing services. These unauthorized services operated both within Singapore and across the border to Malaysia, posing significant risks to passengers. The LTA has issued a stern warning to the public, advising against using such illegal services due to the lack of proper licensing and insurance, which can leave passengers vulnerable in the event of accidents. The operation underscores LTA’s commitment to ensuring the safety and regulation of ride-hailing services in Singapore. Drivers caught offering illegal ride-hailing services without a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Licence face severe penalties, including fines of up to $3,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both. These measures are in place to deter unlicensed operators and protect passengers from potential harm. Illegal ride-hailing services oft...
