Motorcyclist Injured in BKE Accident Caught on Camera

An accident involving a motorcycle and a car occurred along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) towards Woodlands Checkpoint at around 4pm on April 5, 2025.

According to a video uploaded to Facebook, traffic along the three-lane road was heavy, with vehicles lining up bumper to bumper in both the extreme left and right lanes. In the footage, a white car is seen emerging from the rightmost lane and attempting to make its way towards the extreme left lane, possibly to exit the highway or avoid the jam. However, while crossing the middle lane, the car ends up colliding with a motorcycle that was travelling straight in that lane.

The impact of the collision caused the motorcycle to fall, and the rider was injured as a result. The Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed in a joint statement on April 6 that a 45-year-old male motorcyclist was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for medical treatment following the incident. The motorcyclist's condition has not been officially released to the public, though he was conscious at the time of conveyance.

The 38-year-old male driver of the car involved in the accident is currently assisting the police with investigations. There is no indication of any arrest or charges at this stage, as investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances leading to the collision.

The video, which has since been circulated widely on social media, sparked concern and debate among netizens, many of whom criticised the car driver for making a sudden and unsafe lane change in congested traffic conditions. Others pointed out the importance of staying vigilant on expressways, especially when traffic is slow-moving and visibility of other vehicles may be obstructed by larger vehicles in adjacent lanes.

Motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable in such situations due to the size and speed of their vehicles, as well as limited protection in the event of a crash. This incident is a reminder of the risks that can arise when drivers attempt abrupt lane changes without properly checking blind spots or signalling in time.

Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene after receiving reports of the accident. Traffic remained slow in the area for a period following the incident, as responders attended to the injured motorcyclist and police began their initial investigation.

Motorists travelling along the BKE that day were advised to expect delays due to the accident. Some drivers expressed frustration at the build-up, while others shared that the scene served as a sobering reminder to exercise greater caution while on the road.

Authorities are urging all drivers to avoid making sudden lane changes, especially during heavy traffic, and to always be mindful of motorcycles and smaller vehicles that may be harder to notice. Road safety campaigns in Singapore have consistently highlighted the importance of sharing the road responsibly and adhering to defensive driving practices.

The Singapore Police Force continues to investigate the incident. Any witnesses or individuals with further video evidence are encouraged to come forward to assist in the ongoing case.

***Update: HDB, Maincon and Consultant has came down to the unit to check. Will update on status once we have more information. A Punggol Northshore BTO homeowner, who moved into his newly renovated flat in July 2024, has voiced frustration over severe water leakage issues that have left his unit unsafe and unlivable. Water has been observed seeping from an electrical powerpoint, with puddles forming on the floor and walls showing bubbling and signs of damage from moisture. The source of the leak appears to be an external wall adjacent to the master bedroom, according to assessments by the main contractor. However, the leakage has already caused significant damage to the flat's walls and paintwork, leaving the homeowner distressed. Adding to the frustration, the main contractor advised the homeowner to avoid using the affected power switches in the living room and bedroom due to the risk of a short circuit. Despite the warning, the homeowner has no choice but to turn on the light...

Crackdown on Illegal Ride-Hailing with 4 Drivers Caught in LTA Operation

In a recent operation conducted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore, four drivers were caught and had their vehicles impounded for providing illegal ride-hailing services. These unauthorized services operated both within Singapore and across the border to Malaysia, posing significant risks to passengers. The LTA has issued a stern warning to the public, advising against using such illegal services due to the lack of proper licensing and insurance, which can leave passengers vulnerable in the event of accidents. The operation underscores LTA’s commitment to ensuring the safety and regulation of ride-hailing services in Singapore. Drivers caught offering illegal ride-hailing services without a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Licence face severe penalties, including fines of up to $3,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both. These measures are in place to deter unlicensed operators and protect passengers from potential harm. Illegal ride-hailing services oft...
