Leaked Audio Scandal: Eleanor Lee Denies Abuse, Reveals Staff Betrayal

Actress Eleanor Lee has issued a strong public statement denying recent allegations made against her by her former assistant, Xiao Pang. The controversy arose after an audio clip surfaced online, supposedly capturing Eleanor verbally abusing her assistant. The audio quickly went viral on social media platforms, leading to a wave of public backlash.

On 20 May 2024, Eleanor took to her personal Douyin (Chinese TikTok) account to clarify the situation. In a nearly 10-minute video, she accused her former assistant of deliberately recording, editing, and leaking a fake audio clip to damage her reputation and emotionally manipulate the public. Eleanor explained that the assistant in question was dismissed in 2021 after showing repeated signs of erratic behaviour, including outbursts, passive-aggressive attitudes, and failing to maintain professionalism on set.

According to Eleanor, the assistant had been given multiple chances to improve and was offered psychological support, which she declined. Eventually, the working relationship ended due to a series of disruptive actions and poor performance. Eleanor described how she had tried to support Xiao Pang over the years, even assisting financially and treating her like family. She shared that they had spent many years working together, and the betrayal had left her heartbroken.

The audio clip in question allegedly portrayed Eleanor as aggressive and verbally abusive. However, Eleanor explained that the recording was taken out of context and edited to fit a narrative of her being a "bully." She further revealed that the full version of the conversation would tell a different story, one where she was responding to Xiao Pang’s repeated refusal to carry out work duties and blatant disrespect during a tense moment on set.

In her video, Eleanor expressed regret for not addressing the incident sooner. She stated that she initially remained silent out of a desire to protect the assistant, who was dealing with mental health issues. However, with the situation escalating and her name being tarnished, she decided to come forward with her side of the story. Eleanor emphasized the need to draw a line between tolerance and being victimised by false accusations.

She also called attention to the broader issue of public figures being unfairly targeted online without due process or verification. Eleanor urged the public to think critically and refrain from jumping to conclusions based on manipulated content. She shared that she had been deeply hurt by the incident, especially since she considered the assistant like a younger sister.

In addition to defending herself, Eleanor made it clear that legal action was now being considered. Her management is reportedly in contact with lawyers to explore options for defamation and malicious intent. She stated that she would no longer remain silent in the face of public shaming and character assassination.

The incident has sparked intense discussion among fans and fellow celebrities. While some netizens continue to question the authenticity of Eleanor’s explanation, many others have shown support, commending her for bravely speaking up. Comments on her Douyin video were mixed but largely sympathetic, with some calling for the full audio to be released to provide clarity.

Eleanor Lee, the daughter of veteran actress Quan Yi Fong, has been in the entertainment industry for several years, gaining recognition for her acting in China and Taiwan. This incident marks one of the most serious public controversies in her career. Despite the emotional toll, she reaffirmed her commitment to move forward and focus on her work.

As of now, no further statement has been issued by the former assistant. The situation continues to evolve, with netizens eagerly awaiting more developments and the potential release of the full audio recording.
