58-Year-Old Bus Driver Arrested After Lim Chu Kang Crash

On June 5, 2025, a serious road traffic accident occurred along Lim Chu Kang Road in Singapore, involving a bus and a motorcycle. The collision happened at approximately 2am, resulting in a 19-year-old motorcyclist sustaining grievous injuries.

Authorities from the Singapore Police Force and the Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed they were alerted to the incident around 2am. Emergency responders promptly arrived at the scene and found the motorcyclist unconscious. He was immediately conveyed to the National University Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The driver of the bus involved in the incident is a 58-year-old man. He was arrested on suspicion of careless driving causing grievous hurt, a charge under Singapore’s Road Traffic Act that can carry significant penalties if convicted. The identity of the driver has not been disclosed.

Footage from the scene quickly circulated on social media platforms and sparked public concern. In one clip, a group of motorcyclists is seen riding down Lim Chu Kang Road during the early morning hours. Another segment shows a white bus making a turn onto the road. The first two motorcyclists narrowly avoid the turning vehicle, but a third motorcyclist is unable to stop in time and collides forcefully into the rear portion of the bus.

Further footage reveals the aftermath of the crash, with a motorcycle severely damaged and surrounded by metal debris scattered on the road. The visual evidence appears to support the timeline of the crash, although the final assessment of fault remains under investigation.

According to police statements, investigations into the accident are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the collision, including road and weather conditions, the behavior of all involved drivers, and whether any traffic rules were violated leading up to the incident.

This case adds to ongoing road safety concerns, particularly involving motorcycles which are often more vulnerable during vehicle maneuvers like turning or lane changes. Authorities continue to remind both motorists and motorcyclists to exercise caution on roads, especially during early morning hours when visibility and alertness may be reduced.

As of now, no updates have been provided regarding the 19-year-old victim’s medical condition or the specific injuries he sustained. There is also no indication yet of whether alcohol, speed, or fatigue were factors contributing to the incident.

The public is advised to await further updates from official sources. Individuals with relevant dashcam footage or eyewitness accounts are encouraged to come forward to assist police with their investigations.
