A 47-year-old auxiliary police officer from Certis collapsed and died during a National Day Parade (NDP) 2025 rehearsal held at the Padang in Singapore on the morning of June 21, 2025. This was confirmed by the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) and Changi Airport Group (CAG) in a joint statement issued the same day.

The officer was part of the OneChangi contingent, which comprises nine companies including Changi Airport Group, Certis, Sats, and Shilla Cosmetics and Perfumes. The OneChangi contingent is participating in the parade and ceremony segment of NDP 2025, which is scheduled for August 9 at the Padang and Marina Bay.

According to the official account provided by Mindef and CAG, the incident occurred at approximately 11.23am. The officer collapsed suddenly during the rehearsal. He was immediately brought to the on-site medical post, arriving at 11.26am. Medical personnel, including the duty medical officer, began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him without delay.

Despite continuous efforts, the officer remained unresponsive. At approximately 11.40am, he was transferred into a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) ambulance that was on standby at the venue. He was transported to Singapore General Hospital (SGH), arriving shortly before 12.00pm. Resuscitation efforts were continued during transit and upon arrival at the hospital.

However, at approximately 12.20pm, the officer was pronounced dead.

In response to the incident, Changi Airport Group and the NDP 2025 executive committee expressed their condolences and assured the public that the deceased's family is receiving full support. They are in active contact with the family members to assist them through this difficult period.

Certis, the employer of the deceased officer, also released a statement via its spokesperson Robin Goh, confirming the officer’s employment and participation in the NDP rehearsal. The security firm echoed Mindef and CAG’s sentiments and reiterated their commitment to supporting the family. "Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the officer's family and loved ones during this difficult time," Mr Goh said.

The Singapore Police Force, in a separate statement, reported that based on preliminary investigations, no foul play is suspected. The incident is currently under investigation.

Ivan Tan, spokesperson for Changi Airport Group, confirmed that the OneChangi contingent includes nine companies actively involved in the NDP 2025 preparations. These include entities in airport operations, security, logistics, and retail services.

Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, Member of Parliament for Chua Chu Kang GRC and one of the NDP contingent commanders this year, commented on the tragedy in a Facebook post on the evening of June 21. He praised the swift response of the NDP committee, first responders, and on-site counsellors, acknowledging their care and strength in what he described as a moment of deep sorrow amidst a day of celebration and rehearsal.

New Punggol Northshore BTO Plagued by Water Seepage and Electrical Hazards

***Update: HDB, Maincon and Consultant has came down to the unit to check. Will update on status once we have more information. A Punggol Northshore BTO homeowner, who moved into his newly renovated flat in July 2024, has voiced frustration over severe water leakage issues that have left his unit unsafe and unlivable. Water has been observed seeping from an electrical powerpoint, with puddles forming on the floor and walls showing bubbling and signs of damage from moisture. The source of the leak appears to be an external wall adjacent to the master bedroom, according to assessments by the main contractor. However, the leakage has already caused significant damage to the flat's walls and paintwork, leaving the homeowner distressed. Adding to the frustration, the main contractor advised the homeowner to avoid using the affected power switches in the living room and bedroom due to the risk of a short circuit. Despite the warning, the homeowner has no choice but to turn on the light...

Crackdown on Illegal Ride-Hailing with 4 Drivers Caught in LTA Operation

In a recent operation conducted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore, four drivers were caught and had their vehicles impounded for providing illegal ride-hailing services. These unauthorized services operated both within Singapore and across the border to Malaysia, posing significant risks to passengers. The LTA has issued a stern warning to the public, advising against using such illegal services due to the lack of proper licensing and insurance, which can leave passengers vulnerable in the event of accidents. The operation underscores LTA’s commitment to ensuring the safety and regulation of ride-hailing services in Singapore. Drivers caught offering illegal ride-hailing services without a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Licence face severe penalties, including fines of up to $3,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both. These measures are in place to deter unlicensed operators and protect passengers from potential harm. Illegal ride-hailing services oft...
