SG60 Vouchers: Seniors Get $800, Adults Get $600

Singaporean citizens will be receiving one-off SG60 vouchers as part of a national celebration marking Singapore’s 60th year of independence in 2025. These vouchers, distinct from CDC vouchers which are issued per household, are targeted at individuals and come under the SG60 Package announced during Budget 2025 by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

Starting from 10:00am on July 1, 2025, seniors aged 60 and above will be eligible to claim SG60 vouchers worth $800. Adults aged between 21 and 59 will be able to claim their vouchers valued at $600 from 10:00am on July 22, 2025.

The vouchers can be claimed online via the official portal at go.gov.sg/sg60v and will be distributed to approximately three million Singaporean adults. The entire scheme is expected to cost the Government around $2.02 billion. According to Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, the SG60 vouchers are intended to recognise the contributions of all Singaporeans in the country’s nation-building journey.

Each eligible Singaporean will receive a physical SG60 postcard in the mail, which includes a message from Prime Minister Wong and a QR code to facilitate the digital claim of their vouchers. The postcard designs have been created by differently abled artists, further reflecting inclusiveness in the national celebration.

According to a statement released on July 1 by the Community Development Council (CDC), seniors were given priority in the rollout of the vouchers in recognition of their long-standing contributions to Singapore’s growth. The early rollout also ensures that senior citizens can receive assistance in claiming the vouchers.

The claiming and spending mechanisms for SG60 vouchers follow the same model as that of CDC vouchers. Once claimed, a link will be sent via SMS from “gov.sg”. Those requiring support with the claiming process can approach community centres, clubs, or the SG Digital Community Hubs. From July 1 to July 11, 2025, about 200 volunteers from public institutions including ITE College West, Nanyang Polytechnic, and Tampines Meridian Junior College will be stationed at selected community centres. These volunteers will be working alongside CDC ambassadors to assist residents.

Each voucher allocation is split equally between two categories: participating supermarkets and participating hawkers/heartland merchants. This means that seniors will receive $400 for use at supermarkets and $400 for hawkers and merchants, while adults will receive $300 for each category. In total, the vouchers can be used at approximately 23,000 heartland businesses and eight major supermarket chains, namely Ang Mo Supermarket, Cold Storage, Giant Singapore, Hao Mart, FairPrice, Prime Supermarket, Sheng Siong, and U Stars Supermarket.

Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry, and Culture, Community and Youth, Low Yen Ling, explained during a briefing on June 25 that the vouchers are designed to help Singaporeans manage cost-of-living pressures. She also noted that around $1 billion worth of SG60 vouchers is expected to boost footfall and sales for heartland shops and hawkers.

Ms Low, who also chairs the Mayors’ Committee, highlighted the extended validity period of the vouchers. All SG60 vouchers can be used until December 31, 2026, offering Singaporeans a flexible 1.5-year window to gradually utilise the benefit.

The SG60 vouchers are one part of a larger set of SG60 initiatives unveiled in Budget 2025. These also include a personal income tax rebate, a commemorative gift for babies born in 2025, and $100 in SG Culture Pass credits for every Singaporean aged 18 and above.

Earlier in 2025, all Singaporean households received additional financial support through two CDC voucher distributions $300 in January and $500 in May. These vouchers remain valid until December 31, 2025.

Together, the SG60 Package represents a significant investment in both celebrating Singapore’s independence milestone and supporting the financial well-being of its citizens amid evolving economic challenges.

New Punggol Northshore BTO Plagued by Water Seepage and Electrical Hazards

***Update: HDB, Maincon and Consultant has came down to the unit to check. Will update on status once we have more information. A Punggol Northshore BTO homeowner, who moved into his newly renovated flat in July 2024, has voiced frustration over severe water leakage issues that have left his unit unsafe and unlivable. Water has been observed seeping from an electrical powerpoint, with puddles forming on the floor and walls showing bubbling and signs of damage from moisture. The source of the leak appears to be an external wall adjacent to the master bedroom, according to assessments by the main contractor. However, the leakage has already caused significant damage to the flat's walls and paintwork, leaving the homeowner distressed. Adding to the frustration, the main contractor advised the homeowner to avoid using the affected power switches in the living room and bedroom due to the risk of a short circuit. Despite the warning, the homeowner has no choice but to turn on the light...

The Gateway to Singapore’s Digital Future, Punggol Coast MRT Station Opens Today!

Crackdown on Illegal Ride-Hailing with 4 Drivers Caught in LTA Operation

In a recent operation conducted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore, four drivers were caught and had their vehicles impounded for providing illegal ride-hailing services. These unauthorized services operated both within Singapore and across the border to Malaysia, posing significant risks to passengers. The LTA has issued a stern warning to the public, advising against using such illegal services due to the lack of proper licensing and insurance, which can leave passengers vulnerable in the event of accidents. The operation underscores LTA’s commitment to ensuring the safety and regulation of ride-hailing services in Singapore. Drivers caught offering illegal ride-hailing services without a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Licence face severe penalties, including fines of up to $3,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both. These measures are in place to deter unlicensed operators and protect passengers from potential harm. Illegal ride-hailing services oft...
