At around 1:15am on 28 August 2025, a fire broke out in the living room of a fourth-floor flat at Blk 68 Redhill Close. SCDF firefighters extinguished the blaze with a water jet and confined it to the living room. Three residents were rescued from a bedroom and conveyed to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) for minor burn injuries and smoke inhalation. Another person from a different floor, who felt unwell, was also sent to SGH. About 50 residents were evacuated as a precaution.
Preliminary findings suggest the fire was electrical in origin. SCDF reminded the public not to overload electrical outlets, to switch off unused appliances, and to check wiring regularly. They also warned against leaving devices charging overnight or unattended. This case highlights the dangers of electrical fires in high-rise flats and the importance of fire safety practices to reduce risks and protect lives.
