12 Arrested in Major Singapore Vape Bust: $560,000 Seized

Singapore authorities have dismantled a significant e-vaporiser distribution network, arresting twelve individuals in a major coordinated operation on October 16th, 2025. The Singapore Police Force, working in conjunction with the Health Sciences Authority, apprehended eleven men and one woman between the ages of 25 and 35 for their suspected involvement in the possession and distribution of prohibited vaping products.

According to official statements released on October 18th, the suspected syndicate members were believed to have orchestrated the systematic importation of e-vaporisers from Malaysia into Singapore, subsequently supplying these prohibited items to local residents. The operation involved multiple police units, including the Criminal Investigation Department, Police Intelligence Department, and Special Operations Command, demonstrating the coordinated approach to combating the illegal vaping trade.

The enforcement action commenced at a carpark located near Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, where police observed syndicate members actively distributing e-vaporisers. Following the initial arrests, officers conducted subsequent raids at multiple locations including Upper Jurong Road, Canberra Drive, and Jalan Senudok. These locations included two storage facilities utilized by the syndicate to house their illegal inventory.

The scale of the operation became apparent as authorities seized more than 64,000 e-vaporisers and related components during the raids. The Health Sciences Authority estimated the street value of the confiscated items at over $560,000. In addition to the vaping products, police confiscated substantial evidence including cash exceeding $16,000, various electronic devices such as mobile phones and SIM cards, and eight vehicles believed to have been used in the distribution operations.

All twelve arrested individuals are scheduled to be charged in court on October 18th, 2025. Four of the suspects will face charges for engaging in a conspiracy to possess e-vaporisers for sale, while the remaining eight will be charged with possession of e-vaporisers for sale. The charges fall under Section 16(4)(a) of the Tobacco (Control of Advertisement and Sale) Act 1993, with some charges including Section 109 of the Penal Code 1871 for conspiracy.

Singapore maintains strict regulations against e-vaporisers, with the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act prohibiting the importation, distribution, sale, or offering for sale of e-vaporisers and their components. First-time offenders convicted under these regulations face severe penalties including fines up to $10,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both.

Water has been observed seeping from an electrical powerpoint, with puddles forming on the floor and walls showing bubbling and signs of damage from moisture. The source of the leak appears to be an external wall adjacent to the master bedroom, according to assessments by the main contractor. However, the leakage has already caused significant damage to the flat's walls and paintwork, leaving the homeowner distressed. Adding to the frustration, the main contractor advised the homeowner to avoid using the affected power switches in the living room and bedroom due to the risk of a short circuit. Despite the warning, the homeowner has no choice but to turn on the light...

These unauthorized services operated both within Singapore and across the border to Malaysia, posing significant risks to passengers. The LTA has issued a stern warning to the public, advising against using such illegal services due to the lack of proper licensing and insurance, which can leave passengers vulnerable in the event of accidents. The operation underscores LTA’s commitment to ensuring the safety and regulation of ride-hailing services in Singapore. Drivers caught offering illegal ride-hailing services without a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Licence face severe penalties, including fines of up to $3,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both.
