New BTO Flats in Bedok, Sengkang, Yishun with Less Than 3-Year Wait

The Housing and Development Board will offer a significant number of new flats with reduced waiting times in its upcoming October sales launch. A total of 9,100 Build-To-Order units will be launched, of which approximately 3,300 will have a construction period of less than three years.

These shorter-waiting-time flats, which make up more than a third of the total launch, will be spread across four projects in the towns of Bedok, Sengkang, and Yishun. The available flat types range from two-room flexi units to three-generation flats, and also include assisted living apartments designed for senior citizens. This launch brings the total number of such faster-built flats introduced in 2025 to 4,690, exceeding the board's initial annual commitment. The HDB has also confirmed it plans to launch 4,000 flats with shorter waits in both 2026 and 2027.

Two projects in the new Chencharu housing estate in Yishun will offer a combined 1,395 units with an estimated waiting time of two years and seven months. The first project, Chencharu Grove, will consist of 826 units across six blocks, offering a range of flat sizes. The development will incorporate extensive greenery, reflecting the area's history as former agricultural land, and will include facilities such as a pre-school and a communal garden. It will also feature 418 Single Room Shared Facilities units for low-income singles. The second Yishun project, Yishun Glade, will offer 569 units and will include features like rooftop gardens and a senior care centre.

In Sengkang, the Fernvale Plains project will have an estimated wait of two years and eight months. This development will offer 830 flats, including community care apartments for seniors that come with elderly-friendly fittings and access to care services. The project is situated near an Light Rail Transit station. The fourth project, Ping Yi Court in Bedok, will have a waiting period of two years and nine months. It will comprise 862 units arranged in a courtyard-style layout to foster community interaction. These four projects are part of a larger October sales exercise that will include six other BTO projects in various towns.

New Punggol Northshore BTO Plagued by Water Seepage and Electrical Hazards

***Update: HDB, Maincon and Consultant has came down to the unit to check. Will update on status once we have more information. A Punggol Northshore BTO homeowner, who moved into his newly renovated flat in July 2024, has voiced frustration over severe water leakage issues that have left his unit unsafe and unlivable. Water has been observed seeping from an electrical powerpoint, with puddles forming on the floor and walls showing bubbling and signs of damage from moisture. The source of the leak appears to be an external wall adjacent to the master bedroom, according to assessments by the main contractor. However, the leakage has already caused significant damage to the flat's walls and paintwork, leaving the homeowner distressed. Adding to the frustration, the main contractor advised the homeowner to avoid using the affected power switches in the living room and bedroom due to the risk of a short circuit. Despite the warning, the homeowner has no choice but to turn on the light...

Crackdown on Illegal Ride-Hailing with 4 Drivers Caught in LTA Operation

In a recent operation conducted by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore, four drivers were caught and had their vehicles impounded for providing illegal ride-hailing services. These unauthorized services operated both within Singapore and across the border to Malaysia, posing significant risks to passengers. The LTA has issued a stern warning to the public, advising against using such illegal services due to the lack of proper licensing and insurance, which can leave passengers vulnerable in the event of accidents. The operation underscores LTA’s commitment to ensuring the safety and regulation of ride-hailing services in Singapore. Drivers caught offering illegal ride-hailing services without a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Licence face severe penalties, including fines of up to $3,000, imprisonment for up to six months, or both. These measures are in place to deter unlicensed operators and protect passengers from potential harm. Illegal ride-hailing services oft...
