68 Year Old Man Sentenced to Prison for Multiple Harassment Offences

A sixty eight year old man has been handed a custodial sentence following a series of criminal acts that targeted a neighbor and a young student. The individual identified as Rosrankani Abdul Latif faced a total of eight charges involving various offences such as voyeurism molestation and theft. On March 13 2026 he pleaded guilty to four of the charges and was sentenced to a total of eight months and one week in prison.

The first series of events involved a twenty three year old female neighbor. Investigations established that starting in January 2025 the man noticed the woman’s bedroom window was occasionally left open and the curtains were not fully closed. This allowed him to see into her private living space from his own bathroom window. Over a period of several months spanning from January to August 2025 he frequently engaged in voyeuristic behavior by watching her while she was resting or changing clothes. To get her attention he began using a laser pointer to shine light directly into her bedroom. One specific incident in May 2025 involved him watching her as she tried on new attire. By June 24 2025 the victim felt forced to lodge a police report after the man aimed the laser light at her leg. In an attempt to protect her privacy and safety the woman installed security cameras and added frosted film to her windows but the intrusive behavior persisted.

On July 18 2025 around midnight the situation escalated when the man shone the laser into her room for roughly fifteen minutes while shouting sexually suggestive comments and professions of love. He was arrested on that day and his laser pointer was taken away. However even after being released on bail he continued to cause distress by shouting at her from the common corridor in August 2025.

In a separate incident on August 2 2025 the man targeted a fifteen year old girl on a public bus. The victim who was in her school uniform and using a walking boot due to an injury was invited by the man to sit next to him. Once she was seated he began to rub his elbow against her hip and spread his legs to touch her knee. Despite her visible discomfort and requests for him to stop he continued his actions. When she tried to move to the front of the bus he followed her and placed his hand over hers on a handrail. He only ceased his behavior when the girl started a video call with her father to show him what was happening. The young victim was left feeling deeply shaken and afraid to use public transport.

Furthermore the man admitted to a charge of theft involving a bird and its cage in June 2023. The property was valued at approximately 3000 dollars. He took the bird home but it escaped when he attempted to wash it. He eventually sold the stolen cage for 100 dollars and made no restitution for the loss.

During the court hearing on March 13 2026 the prosecution described the man as a serial offender with a criminal history dating back to 1981 including multiple convictions for theft. The judge considered the persistent nature of his harassment and the impact on his victims when deciding the final sentence. Although he was ineligible for corporal punishment due to his age the court determined that a significant term of imprisonment was necessary to address his repeated misconduct and provide a deterrent against such intrusive behavior in the community.
