Authorities, including the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) and Police Land Divisions, collaborated with online platforms like Carousell and GovTech in a joint operation to apprehend suspects involved in e-commerce scams selling tickets to popular concerts.
The operation, conducted from January 31 to February 6, resulted in the arrest of one man and three women, aged 18 to 27.
These individuals allegedly facilitated scams by opening bank accounts and providing personal credentials to scammers for financial gain.
Additionally, seven men and four women, including a 15-year-old, are assisting in investigations after being unwittingly involved in the scams.
Victims of the scams, which affected over 583 individuals with losses totaling at least $223,000, were misled by sellers on various online platforms, including Carousell and Telegram, who provided fake ticket screenshots or delayed ticket delivery after receiving payment.
