Jevdic Dorde, an assistant professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS), has been charged with vape and drug-related offenses.
The Serbian national, suspended from work since August 2023, faces charges for consuming a cannabinol derivative, possessing drug utensils, and possessing a vape device containing tetrahydrocannabinol.
Dorde indicated his intention to plead guilty during the charging. He was offered bail and is scheduled to appear in court in March.
NUS stated that Dorde will undergo internal disciplinary processes while awaiting court proceedings, emphasizing the university's expectations of high standards of conduct.
If convicted, Dorde could face imprisonment and hefty fines as per Singapore's Misuse of Drugs Act.
