A six-year-old boy was left traumatised after being allegedly slapped by a 38-year-old man at the Yooland indoor playground in Westgate Mall on Dec 22. The incident occurred after the boy pushed another child during play.

The boy's father, Mr. Aloy Chua, recounted the ordeal:

“While playing, my son got into a minor conflict with another child and pushed him. Moments later, the father of the other child approached my son and struck him across the face. It was heartbreaking to see my son trembling in fear, his face red and bruised.”

According to Mr. Chua, the man denied the act when confronted by his wife, but CCTV footage confirmed the assault.

Police Investigation

The police confirmed receiving a call for assistance at 3 Gateway Drive at 2:40 pm. The boy was conscious when taken to the hospital. The man was later arrested for voluntarily causing hurt with enhanced penalties for offences against minors under 14 years old.

Lasting Impact on the Boy

Mr. Chua described the emotional toll on his son:

“He now wakes up crying in the middle of the night, reliving the traumatic event. What used to be a joyful and lively child is now withdrawn and shaken. While the physical injuries have healed, the emotional scars remain.”

Call for Justice

Mr. Chua condemned the incident as a “violation of trust and decency” and urged the authorities to take decisive action:

“No adult should ever harm a child. We seek justice for our son and hope no other family has to endure such pain. We trust that the law will hold the responsible individual accountable.”

Community Reactions

The story has sparked outrage among parents and netizens, with many expressing disbelief and anger over the incident. Some questioned how an adult could resort to violence against a child, while others called for stricter measures to ensure children's safety in public spaces.

As investigations continue, the incident underscores the importance of conflict resolution and respect, even in emotionally charged situations involving children.
