Video Reveals Car Beating Red Light in Hougang PMD Collision

A major traffic accident occurred at a busy junction in Hougang on March 11 2026 involving a red passenger car and a personal mobility device. The incident took place at the intersection of Hougang Avenue 8 and Hougang Street 61 at approximately 5.30pm. The collision resulted in significant injuries to three individuals who were traveling on the personal mobility device and the subsequent arrest of the female car driver.

The individuals injured in the crash include a thirty year old woman who was operating the personal mobility device and two young children who were riding as passengers. The children are identified as a six year old boy and a seven year old girl. According to video footage that captured the moment of the accident the red car failed to stop at a red light signal. The vehicle continued through the junction and crashed directly into the personal mobility device as the rider was attempting to cross the road. The force of the impact caused all three individuals on the device to be thrown to the ground.

Emergency responders from the Singapore Civil Defence Force arrived at the scene shortly after being alerted. They confirmed that the thirty year old woman and the two young children were conscious following the collision but required urgent medical care. Paramedics transported two of the victims to KK Womens and Childrens Hospital while the third person was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Witnesses at the scene reported that members of the public who were nearby at the time of the crash stepped forward to offer immediate first aid and assistance to the injured woman and children before the ambulance arrived.

The driver of the red car is a fifty four year old woman. While she did not sustain any visible injuries she was reportedly in a state of shock immediately following the event. One witness noted that she remained inside her vehicle for several minutes before coming out to assess the situation. Police officers arrived at the junction and were seen questioning the driver near her parked vehicle. By 9pm that evening a tow truck was called to the location to remove the damaged car from the side of the road.

Following a preliminary investigation and a review of the evidence including the footage showing the traffic signal violation the police arrested the fifty four year old driver. She is currently facing charges of reckless driving causing grievous hurt. This legal classification points to the serious nature of the injuries sustained by the woman and the two children.

The junction where the accident occurred is a known crossing point for residents in the Hougang area. The incident has raised concerns regarding road safety and the adherence to traffic signals at busy intersections. The police have confirmed that investigations into the matter are active as they continue to compile evidence and witness statements. The condition of the hospitalized victims remains a focus of concern for the local community. This case highlights the severe consequences that can arise when traffic laws such as stopping at red lights are ignored especially when vulnerable road users and children are involved.
